hilary reflection 4

I think that I understand the basics of blogging, but I would like to know more about the e-porfolio project. Our template is due for our e-portfolio, and I am a little confused about what exactly a template is. Does a completed template mean that there is a link bar, theme, background, projects posted and useful links posted?

My prior experience with technology is using the internet, word processing, YouTube, e-mail, PowerPoint, digital cameras and Google Earth. From this class I hope to learn more about the technologies I just listed, and other technologies so that I can give my students a good background on teachnologies that they will be able to use. I found the interactive whiteboard and synchronEyes to be the most interesting technologies discussed in class. I will be able to use SynchronEyes to keep my students on task, and I will also be able to use the interactive whiteboard to highlight important parts of the lesson that I am teaching.

Reflection 3: Summary of reflection 1 and 2

During my earlier years in school my teachers used power point, computers, internet and the overhead projector a lot in their lessons. I love to use the internet and I am always on the comptuer. It is such a great technologic innovation that we are so fortnate to be able to have. I am pretty efficiant on using the internet, powerpoint, word processing, email, and digital camera things.

My top five technology innovations that are so important to me that i don't know what I would do without them today are my cell phone, computer/internet, ipod, digital camera, and television. I think that all of these can also be incorporated into the classroom and its important to teach the next generation of children how to be efficiant with all of these different programs and things.

This website gives good information on google earth and shows you how to actually use google earth. It also gives you other really good websites that have something to do with googleearth. It would be good to use in the classroom because the students would be able to see how google earth is important and they could create a google earth account. (STANDARDS: Technology productivity tools, Technology resource tools.

http://www.googleearthing.com/
This is a blog website that is very interesting and shows different pictures and puzzles by using google earth. It is a website that people play games on by using google earth. It looks like it could be alot of fun. It shows different rankings and everything for the people that use the website too. You could use this in the classroom because in a social studies lesson you could have the studenst play the game and also show them different types of locations. It would be very interesting for the students i think to see actual locations and play a game with them. This website has good information on it for using google earth. It shows different links, pictures and data that are used. It would be good to use google earth and all of these different websites in the classroom in either a science class learning about planets or our earth, and it would be good to use it in the social studies lessons for history and actual geographic land. This website is very cool- it actually is a blog that talks about the educational uses of google earth. It talks about how you can look at major geographical features on the earth and also how you can use google earth for history, science, math and really all other subjects. This could be used by teachers as a reference to see HOW they can use it in the classroom.

This site gives lesson plan ideas and other uses for google earth in the classroom. It also gives classroom tips on how to incorporate google earth appropriately. Visual/Digital examples of the quality of google earth photos are on the website and would give a person who has never used google earth before an opportunity to see what it is about. This website is great because of the lesson plans and classroom tips it provides. A future teacher could reference it to get ideas.

This website, also dealing with google earth is of a different nature than the first 2 I listed above. This website deals with the legal concerns of google earth and why some schools are being refused the right to use it because its license does not specifically mention google earth's place in educational settings. This website also has comments by users of google earth and also has places for you to post your own comments. This website could be used as a reference for teachers who may want to use google earth in the classroom.

(STANDARD: Technology Resource Tools, Tecnology productivity tools, and basic operations and concepts are all used with google earth. It is used as a solid research tool and it enhances learning. It also explains nature and weather. )

(Julia, Reflection 3)

Summary of reflections 3 & 4.

I found by looking through my relflections 1 and 2, the technologies that I am most fond of are also the ones that are the most common in my everyday life, and the one that I am the most familiar with. Examples are cell phones, internet, computers, home phones, digital cameras and of course electricity.

I also found that I am most unfamiliar with some of the technologies we will be learning about and using in class. I think that it is necessary that I learn about these (blogs, websites, games/simulations) so that I will be able to use them with my students in my career as an educator.

I plan to incorporate the use of digital cameras, websites, power point, internet, and other technologies into my future classrooms, so I am looking forward to learning more about them.

Blog for reflection 4

Hey guys!

Well i think i finally figured out how to post if this shows up! I have no idea what we are really supposed to write. I always use the internet and google like crazy but i have never blogged before. I am looking forward to learning how to do this whole thing, and hopefully it will help me out in becoming more knowledgeable on blogs.
I agree with Julie, this is alot easier than that whole frontpage program. I am very confused on what I am supposed to be doing on that. Not really sure what else were supposed to write, but I use technology everyday especially my cell, computer, and camera! :)

Alrite hope this is what she wants? See everyone next week!
